As a tropical turtle, the Ambu box turtle does not have the need to hibernate, but it can enter a state of hibernation. Generally speaking, the temperature suitable for the growth of Anbu box turtle is about 25 degrees Celsius. It is a poikilothermic animal, which means that its physiological activities are closely related to temperature, especially its digestive function.
Specifically, below 18 degrees Celsius, it will stop eating, and a little lower, it can enter hibernation. The lowest temperature should not be less than 10 degrees Celsius, otherwise it may directly lead to their death. Therefore, although the Ambo box turtle can enter hibernation, in winter, the water temperature is recommended to remain between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius to ensure that it can survive the winter safely.
If the Ambu box turtle must enter the hibernation state, it is best to control the time between January and February, not too long. In the process of hibernation, the breeder needs to pay attention to the temperature at all times, to heat the feeding environment, the overall temperature can not be lower than 10 to 12 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is too low, it may directly lead to its death.
