There are many ways to distinguish between male and female Anbu box turtles, mainly from the appearance. Generally speaking, the female tortoise should be wider and rounder, while the male tortoise should be thinner. From the point of view of abdominal carapace, due to the need of reproduction, the abdomen of male turtles is hollow, while the abdomen of female turtles is relatively flat.
From the point of view of the tail, the male turtle's tail is a little stronger and shorter than the female turtle's tail. From the cloacal hole, the male turtle's cloacal hole is far away from the abdominal carapace, and its shape is slender. The female turtle is closer to the abdominal carapace and is round in shape.
In general, the male and female of the Ambu box turtle can be raised together. Ambu box turtles are gentle, calm and timid, and usually do not actively conflict with other turtles, so they can be mixed together. At the same time, when male turtles and male turtles grow up, they will naturally carry out reproductive behavior when they enter the reproductive period. However, it should be noted that if the size difference between male and female turtles is too large, appropriate isolation should be carried out, otherwise the problem of big turtles bullying small turtles will easily occur.
