1. Prepare a breeding tank: If you want to breed Chinese betta, you should first prepare a breeding tank. The size of the tank need not be too large, choose a tank with a capacity of about 12L. Clean water should be poured into the tank, the water temperature should be controlled between 26-27 ℃, and the water depth should be controlled above 10cm.
2. Male fish into the tank: Select a healthy male fish with bright body color, long wire drawing, and more than six months of age, and put it into the breeding tank for breeding for about three days. Wait for it to adapt to the environment, and spit bubbles to build a bubble nest. At the same time, prepare another fish tank next to the breeding tank, put healthy female fish in the breeding period, so that male and female fish can be familiar with each other to increase the success rate of breeding.
3. Female fish in the tank: After about 3 days, the female fish can be fished out and put into the breeding tank. If the two parent fish do not see eye to eye, a fight should be timely out of the female fish, and for fish breeding. If they chase, play and cuddle with each other, the mother will ovulate. After ovulation, the male fish will ejaculate, fertilize the eggs, and then send the fertilized eggs into the bubble nest. The whole reproduction process lasts about 1-2 hours.
4. Incubation of fish eggs: After reproduction, the female fish should be fished out and put into another tank to prevent them from eating fish eggs by mistake. After that, the male takes care of the eggs and makes them hatch. It takes about 2 days for the eggs to hatch.
The breeding time of Chinese fighting fish is from after the Qingming Festival to before the Winter Solstice. But in artificial breeding, because the water temperature can be controlled freely, it is possible to breed all year round.
