Chinese betta is easy to raise, but it has a short life span among ornamental fish. Under normal circumstances, the average life span of betta fish is about 2-3 years, among which the longest life span is as long as 12 years.

Under better feeding conditions, some betta fish usually have reproductive ability when they grow to about 5 cm. Usually, fighting fry can grow to about 1 cm long after being maintained for about one month, and it takes about half a year to grow to adult size, and it is not long to urinate and defecate when it grows to about 8 cm. Therefore, when their body length reaches more than 10 cm, most of them are more than one year old, and their life span will soon end after two years of maintenance.

The sexual maturity period of Chinese betta fishes is 6 months, and some betta fishes have reproductive ability after 3 months. However, premature breeding is not conducive to the later development, and breeding females are easily attacked and hurt by males at this time.

Under normal circumstances, it is best to choose parent fish whose body is more than 5 cm, and the sexual maturity has reached 6-8 months, at which time the survival rate and quality of the offspring bred are high.
