1. Body size difference: Generally speaking, adult male Chinese betta should be relatively large in body size and slightly flat in abdomen. The adult female Chinese betta is relatively small and has a slightly bulging abdomen.
2. Difference of dorsal fin: The dorsal fin of male Chinese betta is longer and the end is slightly sharp. The dorsal fin of the female Chinese paradise fish is shorter and the end is slightly blunt. Put the two together and it's easy to see the difference.
3. Abdominal difference: If there is a yellowish dot between the pelvic fin and the anal fin of the Chinese betta, then this fish is the mother fish. This little spot is its gonopore. And if there is no point, then the fish is a male.
4. Difference in body color: Generally speaking, the body color of the adult male Chinese fighting fish is relatively bright, while the body color of the female fish is relatively dim. This is a general rule, which applies to most cases, but there may be individual cases that do not apply, so it is recommended as a supporting evidence.
Male and female Chinese fighting fish can be raised together, but it is generally not recommended to do so. Male Chinese betta is very aggressive and may attack females during non-breeding season. Therefore, it is more recommended to breed them separately. If they must be kept together, as long as a large enough tank is used and only one male is placed, they will generally not fight. But if you see them fighting, you need to divide the cylinder in time.
