The lowest acceptable water temperature of map turtle is 0 ℃. They have strong adaptability and can live normally in the water temperature above 20 ℃. When the temperature is lower than 20 ℃, their appetite and activity will decrease, and their resistance will also decrease. When the temperature is lower than 10-15 ℃, they begin to hibernate. When the temperature is lower than 5 ℃, they will go into deep hibernation. After the map turtle goes into hibernation, the lowest acceptable temperature is 0 ℃. If the temperature is lower than 0 ℃, they may freeze to death in hibernation.
2. Do map turtles need to prepare anything for winterBefore winter, the breeder should first prepare enough food for map turtles, and one month before they enter hibernation, they should be fed more high-protein and high-nutrition food, so as to ensure their sufficient energy during hibernation. Two weeks before they hibernate, the breeder needs to stop feeding and let them empty their bodies of food.
Map turtles need a wet land for hibernation. Breeders can prepare some sand, spray water or put a little water to keep the sand moist. During their hibernation, breeders need to observe them in time and replenish water regularly to avoid dehydration.
