Map turtles can't be raised in cold water. Although their origin is extensive, the temperature is relatively high. If cold water is used in artificial breeding, it will not only affect their growth and development, but also lead to a decrease in their food intake and activity. If they live in low temperature for a long time, their immunity and resistance will decline, and they are prone to illness. Some map turtles with poor physique may die in low temperature. If breeders want to raise map turtles well, they should be given a comfortable environment, and the water temperature can be kept between 26-28 ℃ at ordinary times. Because in this temperature range, it is most beneficial to their growth and development.
Map turtles hibernate in winter. During hibernation, breeders can stop heating, and it is best to transfer them indoors, as long as the temperature can be guaranteed above 0 ℃.
2. Can map turtles be raised in deep waterMap turtles can be raised in deep water, but they cannot be raised in particularly deep water, because their water quality is not particularly good and their physical strength is not abundant. If the water level is too deep, they are prone to choking and drowning while swimming. If it is a juvenile map turtle, the height of water level can be controlled at 2-3 cm above the carapace. If you are an adult map turtle, you can keep the water level at twice the height of your carapace.
