The forktail fighting fish is a relatively long-lived fighting fish species. In the case of artificial breeding, their life span can reach 6-7 years. If the breeding environment is suitable, they can live for about 8 years, and a few genetically superior individuals can live for 10 years. However, if the breeding environment is not suitable, the water temperature changes frequently or the food is not clean, they may get sick and die early.
The forktail betta is relatively small in size. Generally speaking, the body length of adult channel tail paradise fish is between 7 and 8 cm. Individuals with good individual genes can grow to a length of about 10 cm in a suitable environment. Because they are not very big, they can be raised in a medium-sized tank. A fish tank with a length of about 30cm, a height of about 25cm and a width of about 20cm can be used for monoculture. If they are mixed, they need larger tanks.
If you want to raise the forktail betta well, you should use the water temperature between 20-25 ℃ as the breeding water. The water temperature should be kept stable and can not be changed greatly, otherwise the fish will not be able to adapt. It is suggested to choose artificial fish food for Chinese fighting fish, feeding 1-2 times a day. Don't feed them too much at a time, and don't let them eat too much. You can occasionally feed some red worms or dried shrimps to increase nutrition.
