When the rat fish is born and has not yet grown up, their body shape and appearance are similar, and it is not easy to distinguish them. After they grow up, they can be distinguished by the following aspects:
1. Body shape: First of all, there are differences in body shape between male and female. When the female fish becomes an adult, they will be larger and fatter. Males are more slender and look smaller than males when they are adults. However, if different batches of rat fish, then it is more difficult to distinguish from this aspect.
2. Appearance: In addition, they can be distinguished by their appearance. First of all, their pelvic fins, if the male fish, then their pelvic fins will be more sharp; In females, the pelvic fins are more rounded. However, this distinction needs to be made on the premise that their pelvic fins are not worn. And then their abdomens. During the breeding season, the abdomen of the female fish will be relatively enlarged, sometimes easier to observe.
3. Color: For some special species of rat fish, they can be distinguished from their color. For example, Pantanal rat fish, the color of the female fish is relatively single, the color of the male fish is relatively bright, with good-looking patterns.
Rat fish male and female mixed culture is no problem, generally speaking, they will not conflict, and habits and characteristics are relatively consistent, can be raised together. Moreover, it is difficult to distinguish between male and female before they grow up, so they can only be raised together.
