The pearl turtle is a water turtle. They all live in rivers, lakes, rivers and other waters when they are in their place of origin. They usually don't come to the water except for basking in the sun and breeding. In addition, the carapace of pearl turtles is flat and smooth, and there are developed webbed between their toes and thick tails, which are obvious characteristics of water turtles.
Although they are water turtles, they can't live in deep water, otherwise they will drown. If conditions permit, it is best to build a balcony or gentle slope for them, so that they can climb to the water to bask in the sun and rest anytime and anywhere. You can also choose your own water level to avoid choking and drowning.
2. The water level of pearl turtle is suitableThe water level required by pearl turtle in different growth stages is also different. The water level required by pearl turtle in infancy is shallower, because they are just born and have no strong adaptability to the environment, so the height of water level is consistent with the height of carapace. As they grow in size, the height of water level will gradually increase. For adult pearl turtles, the height of water level can be controlled at 2-3 times of the height of carapace, but the highest should not exceed 3 times, otherwise drowning will occur.
