Musk turtles hibernate well or not depends on their growth stage. If they are newborn musk turtles, it is better not to hibernate. Because their physique is poor and their ability to resist diseases is not strong, they are easy to get sick or die in hibernation, so it is best not to hibernate.

If it is a musk turtle that has been born for several years, it is better to hibernate. Because hibernation can not only give them a better rest, but also promote the development of their gonads. After hibernation, the secretion of sex hormones will increase, which will make them mature faster. Therefore, it is better for musk turtles to hibernate normally after being born for several years.

When the temperature is lower than 10 ℃, wild musk turtles will drill into the silt at the bottom of the water and enter hibernation. Artificial breeding cannot simulate the native environment. When they enter hibernation, they can prepare some special mats. If there is no special cushion material, cloth can be used instead. After they go into hibernation, the breeder needs to lower the water level, and can't raise them with too deep water. The water level can be 2-3 cm. It is also necessary to create a humid environment for them so that they can go into hibernation.

Musk turtles do not enter hibernation for a long time. When the temperature is higher than 10 ℃, they will end hibernation. Generally speaking, it only hibernates for 2-3 weeks every year, and the longest one will not exceed one month.
