The life span of Hermann tortoises is longer. When they are in the country of origin, they will normally enter hibernation, and with the time of hibernation, the total life span can reach 120 years. Excluding their hibernation time, their life span can reach 80 years, so they are one of the turtles with a relatively high life span.
However, the life span of Herman tortoises raised in captivity is shorter than that of those living in the wild. The specific life span of Herman tortoises is determined according to the way they are raised. Generally speaking, the total life span is 70-80 years. If breeders want to prolong their lives, they can put them into hibernation on time every year, so that their life span will be longer. However, Herman tortoises with a body length of less than 5 cm should not go into hibernation as far as possible, because their resistance is weak, and after going into hibernation, it may affect their health or life.
2. The body length of Hermann tortoisesThe body size of Hermann tortoises is not large, and the body length is about 15-20 cm under normal feeding. However, different growing environments have great differences in size. Usually, Herman tortoises growing in the east will be larger than those growing in the west. Herman tortoises growing in the east can reach about 28 cm long and 6 kg in weight. However, most Herman tortoises grown in the west are about 12 cm long in adulthood, and few are more than 20 cm long.
