Herman tortoises are protected animals. They have been listed in Appendix II of Washington Convention (CITES) and belong to international protected animals. Moreover, China's Wildlife Protection Law also has clear provisions prohibiting the sale, purchase, hunting and killing of wild animals under national key protection. If breeders want to buy artificially bred Herman tortoises, they must obtain relevant breeding licenses before they can raise them. However, the breeding license can only guarantee that the breeding is legal and cannot be sold or donated.
2. Are Herman tortoises easy to raiseHerman tortoises are easy to raise. They eat miscellaneous food and can eat many kinds of food. Wild Herman tortoises like to eat some legumes or prey on some insects. When raising artificially, you can feed them more vegetables and fruits, and you can also feed some dandelion and plantain leaves.
Hermann tortoises have low requirements on the environment. Breeders can keep the water temperature at 23-30 ℃, and if they are young tortoises, they can keep the water temperature between 25-30 ℃, and the humidity is most suitable at 50%. Although they are tortoises, it is best for breeders to bathe them every day in order to prevent them from getting sick. They are lively, so breeders need to prepare a larger container for them to ensure that they have enough room for movement. In summer, it is necessary to take sun protection measures to avoid dehydration at high temperature.
