Spotted pond turtles are aquatic turtles. They belong to shallow water turtles and can only survive in shallow water. Although they can live in deeper water in the wild, their carapace is heavier than ordinary turtles. If they are raised in deep water, they are prone to suffocation or choking. In addition, they are quite different from pure water turtles. They breathe with their lungs and need to float to the water regularly to breathe, so they are neither pure water turtles nor semi-water turtles.
2. How to raise spotted pond turtles1. Feeding environment: If you want to raise spotted pond turtles well, you must first prepare a suitable area for them. Breeders can build a special breeding pond, and then divide the space of the pond into two parts, half water and half land, so that they can move back and forth at will.
2. Water temperature: Spotted pond turtles are subtropical turtles, so they cannot be raised in cold water. Usually, they need to use heating rods to keep the water temperature at about 25 ℃. After they enter hibernation, the water temperature should not be lower than 10 ℃, and it is best to control it between 10-14 ℃.
3. Water quality: The requirements of spotted pond turtles on water quality are not high. Breeders can raise them well as long as the water quality is clean and fresh.
4. Feeding: Spotted pond turtles eat miscellaneous food. Breeders can feed them some small fish, shrimp, red worms, lean meat, animal viscera, etc., and can also match some synthetic feed to ensure balanced nutrition.
