Spotted pond turtles can't be raised in deep water. Although some of them live in deep water when they are in their place of origin, because their carapace is heavy and their swimming skills are not very good, it is difficult for them to swim freely from the bottom of the pond to the water surface if they are raised in deep water. Moreover, young turtles may choke and suffocate on their way upstream, so spotted pond turtles cannot be raised in deep water. Breeders can usually control the height of water level a little above their carapace.
Can spotted pond turtle be raised in deep water? How should it be raised 1. Can spotted pond turtles be raised in deep water

It is not recommended to raise spotted pond turtles in deep water. Although some spotted pond turtles can live in deep water, they can only be raised in deep water after adulthood. Young spotted pond turtles have poor swimming ability and lack of physical strength. If they are raised in deep water, they are prone to drowning and choking. Even when they are adults, breeders should not raise them in too deep water. Because their carapace is heavy, it is difficult to swim from the deep water bottom to the water surface in adulthood, so it is best not to raise them in too deep water.

For juvenile spotted pond turtles, the height of water level can be controlled above the carapace. With the increase of their size, the height of water level can gradually increase. In adulthood, the water temperature of spotted pond turtle can be controlled at 1-5 times of the height of carapace, preferably not more than 5 times.

2. How to raise spotted pond turtles

1. Water temperature: spotted pond turtles have high requirements on water temperature, and breeders need to keep the water temperature between 22-30 ℃. If conditions permit, they can keep the water temperature at about 25 ℃.

2. Feeding: The spotted pond turtle does not require high food, so the breeder can feed them more animal feed. For example, small fish, shrimp, lean meat, etc., can also be matched with some vegetables and fruits to ensure balanced nutrition.
