Mickey fish are oviparous fish, and they reproduce in different ways from other fish. They are fertilized in vivo and produce small fry, not eggs. Before they reproduce, the male fish and the female fish will pair. After successful pairing, the male fish will insert the genitals into the female fish's drainage hole to complete mating. After mating, fish eggs need to mature in the body before they can be produced. Before giving birth, females will have swollen bellies and dark fetal spots, so the breeder needs to transfer them to a new container for delivery.
2. How to raise newborn Mickey fish1. Water temperature: Newborn Mickey fish are relatively fragile, so breeders need to keep the water temperature constant. If conditions permit, it is best to use a heating rod to keep the water temperature at 23 ℃, so as to avoid the impact of too large temperature difference on them.
2. Water quality: Mickey fish has no strict requirements on water quality, and can survive well in weakly alkaline or neutral water. The breeder can keep the PH value between 7.0 and 7.4. The pollution of Mickey fish to water quality is not serious. Breeders can change water once a week, and the amount of water change each time is controlled at one third of the total water quantity.
3. Feeding: There are not many kinds of food that newborn Mickey fish can eat, and breeders can choose to feed some shrimp eggs and cooked egg yolks in good years. After they develop for a period of time, they can be fed with some red worms, bread worms, bumper shrimps, yellow mealworms and so on.
