1. Prepare a breeding tank: Before breeding traffic lights, you need to prepare a breeding tank first. When breeding, the breeding tank needs to be placed in a semi-shade position. It is best to wrap a layer of newspaper outside the fish tank to play a role in shading. In addition, some golden grass should be laid at the bottom of the jar.
2. Prepare water for breeding: The breeding of red and green lantern fish requires high water. Be sure to use soft water with weak acid, and the water temperature should be controlled between 25-26 C. If conditions permit, some distilled water can be prepared first, and then its PH can be adjusted to 5.6-6.8 as breeding water. Before breeding, some oxygen is added to the water to increase the concentration of dissolved oxygen.
3. Parent fish breeding in the tank: In the evening, prepare a male fish and a female fish with breeding ability, and put them into the breeding tank. Then keep quiet and shade properly. They usually wait until dawn the next day to finish laying eggs. At this point, you can fish out the parent fish.
4. Maintenance method for young fish: It takes about 36 hours for the eggs of the traffic light fish to hatch, and then 3-4 days for the eggs to start swimming. They don't need to be fed before they start swimming. When they begin to swim, they need to feed some small feed to provide nutrition.
After about six months of growth after hatching, the traffic light fish will have the ability to reproduce and can give birth to small fish. However, breeding is not recommended at this time. It is better to wait for it to hatch for 8-10 months and then let it breed as a parent fish when it enters the best breeding period.
