Different sizes of silver arowana have different needs for feed. Young fish under 12 centimeters should eat raw bait, usually fed with mealworms or small river shrimps, four times a day. Small fish about 15 centimeters should increase the amount and frequency of feeding to ensure that they are full to 7 points. Big fish over 20 centimeters can be fed with some larger fish and shrimp, as well as loach insects, but they must be clean and hygienic.
The water for raising silver arowana must ensure good water quality. Generally, weak acid water should be used, and the Ph should be controlled between 6.5 and 7.5. The content of nitrite and chlorine in water should be 0 to ensure a good nitrification system. In addition, we must use trapped water, that is, dried tap water, which can not only remove residual chlorine, but also increase dissolved oxygen, help fish breathe.
Silver arowana is suitable for living in warm waters, water temperature should be maintained between 25-28 degrees Celsius. Because it is a very sensitive fish, changes in water temperature can easily be detected, leading to its shock, affecting normal growth. Usually, we must adjust the water temperature according to seasonal changes, and properly increase or decrease the temperature, but we need to control the range, so that the temperature can not rise or fall too fast.
Because the growth rate of silver arowana is relatively fast, the size of the fish tank must be paid attention to, generally more than 140 cm, and there should be no sand or water plants at the bottom. Water should be changed and washed regularly, one third or one quarter at a time, and care should be taken to avoid scaring the fish.
