Lizards hibernate. Lizards belong to reptiles and are poikilotherms in terms of the characteristics of body temperature changes. When the ambient temperature drops in winter, their body temperature will also drop, thus entering hibernation. However, it does not mean that lizards living in all areas will hibernate, depending on the specific temperature. There are many lizards living in the tropics and subtropics, and they will not hibernate. But lizards living in temperate regions may hibernate.
Do lizards hibernate? When do they hibernate?

Do lizards hibernate

? Lizards are reptiles. From the point of view of the change of body temperature, reptiles have a common feature, that is, they will change with the change of temperature in the surrounding environment, in fact, they are commonly known as poikilotherms. Because their body temperature is affected by the surrounding temperature, they will hibernate in winter.

However, although lizards hibernate, not all lizards in all regions hibernate in winter. There are many lizards living in tropical and subtropical areas around the world, where winter temperatures are not particularly low, so lizards living in these areas may not hibernate. There are also some lizards living in temperate areas, where winter temperatures may be relatively low, sometimes reaching below zero, and lizards living in these areas will hibernate. For example, there are some lizards living in the vast areas of northern China, which will hibernate and find suitable winter sites when the temperature begins to drop.

2. When do lizards hibernate

? As mentioned above, although lizards hibernate, whether they hibernate depends on the temperature of the surrounding environment. If the temperature is very low in winter, the lizard will hibernate. Specifically, the hibernation time of lizards living in different places is also different, because the difference between different regions is relatively large. For example, in the northern part of our country, the temperature has been relatively low since the end of autumn, when lizards will slowly enter the state of hibernation. When the lizards are hibernating, they will not eat much and will stay quietly in a hidden place until the next spring when the temperature begins to rise.

In addition, if lizards are bred artificially, the temperature can be properly adjusted in winter, above 20 degrees, so that lizards can not hibernate. When in hibernation, lizards do not grow, so try not to let them hibernate.
