Electric catfish is a kind of ferocious ornamental fish, and its outstanding feature is that it can discharge electricity. When electric catfish is stimulated by the external environment, it can emit 200-450 volts of electricity, which is an instantaneous process. Discharge by external stimulation is their predation means and a way for them to protect themselves.

They are more afraid of light and prefer to live in the daytime and at night. During the day, electric catfish will hide under dark and hidden rock crevices or wide aquatic plants. At night, they begin to move in search of their prey. They will use other fish as their prey. So don't mix this fish with any fish, it is safe to keep it alone. They are difficult to raise, and breeders need to have certain skills.

1. Water temperature: The water temperature for raising electric catfish should be 22-28 ℃. Keeping the ambient temperature constant is more conducive to their vigorous growth.

2. Water quality: They are not picky about water quality, just keep it clean. The water in the aquarium should be soft water with weak acidity. Household feeding can meet their basic needs by controlling the pH value of water in the range of 6.5-7.0.

3. Feeding: They are very ferocious by nature and are typical carnivorous fish. They are more interested in fresh live bait. Feeding can be fed small fish, bumper shrimp, water earthworms and other bait.
