It is not recommended to raise crocodile turtles dry when they are healthy. Because they are highly aquatic turtles, they all live in deep water in streams, rivers, lakes, swamps and other areas at the time of origin, and they will not go ashore except for breeding. Although they can move on land, they are also at risk of death when they leave water for a long time. Moreover, dry cultivation will not only affect the development of their carapace, but also cause many skin problems. Therefore, when farming artificially, it is best to raise it with water.

Although crocodile turtles need to be raised in water, they need to be raised dry when they get sick. Because dry cultivation can make them absorb drugs to a greater extent, so that they can heal faster.

The water level of crocodile turtle in its infancy should be shallower, and the height of water level should be consistent with the height of carapace. Because their swimming ability is poor in childhood, and their physical strength is insufficient, it is difficult to swim up from deep water to take a breath.

As they grow in size, so does the water level at which they are raised. When they are adults, the height of water level can be controlled at 2-3 times the height of carapace. If a balcony or gentle slope is built, the raised water level can be raised a little, but the maximum should not exceed 3-4 times, otherwise the crocodile turtle will also be at risk of drowning.
