Crocodile turtles have low requirements for water temperature, and can adapt to a wide range of temperatures, and they can survive in the water temperature between 3-45 ℃. Although they can live in a wide range of temperatures, if the water temperature is too low, their growth and development will slow down. When the water temperature is lower than 15 ℃, they will go into hibernation. When the water temperature is lower than 10 ℃, they will go into deep hibernation. Crocodile turtles don't eat after hibernation, so their growth rate will be extremely slow.
In order for them to grow normally, the breeder needs to keep the water temperature between 20-33 ℃, and if conditions permit, the water temperature can be kept between 25-28 ℃. In this temperature range, their metabolism is the fastest, so their growth and development speed is also the fastest.
2. Do crocodile turtles need to be heatedUnder normal feeding conditions, crocodile turtles do not need to be heated, because they can survive at a water temperature between 20-33 ℃. In winter, they will go into hibernation, and generally do not need to be heated. However, if crocodile turtles are raised in northern China, it is best to use heating rods to heat them in early spring or late autumn, because the temperature difference between morning and evening in spring and autumn is large, so using heating rods can ensure constant water temperature. In addition, in winter, if the temperature is lower than 5 ℃, they also need to be heated. Because the water temperature is lower than 5 ℃, it may affect their health, and they may freeze to death.
