The cherry red-legged tortoise is one of the smaller tortoises with red legs. Under normal conditions, most of them are between 25 and 30 centimeters in size, and the largest known body length is about 30 centimeters. Usually, the body size of the artificially fed tortoise is larger than that of the tortoise growing in the wild. Generally, the body size of the artificially fed tortoise is more than 20 centimeters, and that of the tortoise growing in the wild is 15-20 centimeters. Cherry red legs do not shrink their carapaces as adults, and their adult males are larger than their female counterparts.
The life span of the cherry red-legged tortoise is relatively long, and they can live to about 50 years old under normal circumstances. Because of the different growth environment, the length of their life will vary, usually captive turtles live longer than wild turtles.
In artificial feeding, it is necessary to provide a suitable growth environment and feed fresh and healthy food. Maintenance should also pay attention to balanced nutrition, regular addition of animal protein and calcium. Under such conditions, most of them can live to 40-50 years old. But in the wild growth turtle, because the survival environment condition is limited, correspondingly the life span will be slightly shorter.
