The red-legged tortoise is not large in size and is more suitable for raising at home. Their appetite is relatively large, the growth rate is relatively fast, under normal feeding conditions, the size of most can reach 40-50 cm, and some can grow to about 60 cm, usually the size of wild turtles is smaller than that of artificially fed turtles. Adult male tortoise body length and weight will be larger than the female tortoise, male tortoise in adult body size is about 50 cm, female tortoise in adult body size is about 40 cm. Because of the limited living conditions, most of the turtles growing in the wild are about 30-40 centimeters in size.
The red-legged tortoise has a relatively long life span, and most of them can live to about 50 years old. They are relatively easy to maintain, have strong adaptability to the environment, pay attention to the regulation of temperature and humidity in the process of maintenance, and provide nutritionally balanced food and adequate water, in such suitable conditions for feeding, most of them can live to about 50 years old. Because of the limitation of living conditions and the threat of various natural enemies, the life span of turtles growing in the wild is shorter than that of artificially fed turtles, about 40-50 years old.
