When a turtle first drowns, it will swim hard, but soon it will die because it can't breathe. Generally, the tortoise will die with its eyes open, its limbs stretched out, its neck swollen and it looks limp. If you want to avoid drowning, you must not use too deep water, but also give it a landing point, so that it can come ashore.
1. Swimming: Not only will tortoises drown, but also terrapins, and even terrapins are more likely to drown. Because tortoises rarely go into the water, but terrapins have to stay in the water all the time, if it loses its strength when swimming, no matter how hard it struggles, it will move deeper, which is drowning.
2. Too high water level: In addition to being unable to swim, too high water level can also cause it to drown, especially for some turtles that are not adapted to deep water. If they are thrown into a place where the water level is too high, they will not be able to swim by themselves and will fall to the bottom of the water and then drown.
3. Unable to land: Usually, a turtle needs a place where it can rest, that is, a place to land. If it cannot land, it must swim in the water all the time. Except for some turtles with good water ability, most turtles will drown if they swim for a long time.
