The big pencil fish is native to the Amazon River in South America. It is a kind of tropical fish. It is suitable to live in the water temperature of 22-27 ℃. If the temperature is too low, it will affect the feeding and survival of the fish. If the temperature is too high, it will accelerate the metabolism, which will also have a negative impact on the growth of the fish. However, during the breeding period and after illness, the temperature can be raised appropriately.
1. Water change interval: The big pencil fish usually changes the water once a week. If the water is changed too frequently, the new water will stimulate the fish body. However, if the water is not changed in time, the quality of the water body will decrease, affecting the health of the fish. It should be noted that if the fish is sick, the frequency of water change should be more frequent, which can improve the water quality and help the recovery of the fish.
2. How much water: Usually, the amount of water used to change the water for the big pencil fish is about 1/4 to 1/3. If the filter system of the fish tank is good, you can change it for less. In addition, in order to reduce the concentration of pathogens and parasites in the water body, the amount of water should be increased appropriately, but not more than half.
3. Water quality and temperature: As a tropical fish, you must pay attention to the water quality and temperature after changing the water. It likes neutral or weak acid water, PH should be controlled between 6.4-7, water temperature should also be maintained, usually around 22-26 degrees Celsius, so that fish can adapt to the new water more quickly and reduce its stimulation.
4. Note: When changing water, the big pencil fish should not only use new water, but also add appropriate amount of old water, so as to reduce the discomfort of the fish and make it grow better.
