Grass carp is a kind of fish that can be raised artificially. When farming, we need to pay attention to the water used. Tap water is more convenient and the cost is not too high. However, tap water contains chlorine, because they belong to a class of strong oxidants, will form a harmful substance in the water, called hypochlorous acid. This substance can lead to the loss of mucus secreted by grass carp, and also lead to electrolyte imbalance in grass carp, eventually leading to the death of grass carp.
Therefore, the tap water containing a large amount of chlorine is inedible, and the grass carp can only survive in it for a short period of time. However, if the chlorine is removed, the grass carp can survive in the body. The tap water can be exposed to the sun for 2 or 3 days, at which time the chlorine is basically removed. If you do not trust this way to remove chlorine, you can also use some special chlorine removal agents, they play a relatively fast effect.
As mentioned above, tap water without dechlorination treatment cannot be used to raise grass carp, and grass carp can easily die in it. If this kind of tap water is used, the substances produced by chlorine are harmful to grass carp, which may die in about three days. However, if the treatment of dechlorination is done, then such water can be used to raise grass carp. However, we also need to pay attention to some problems, such as paying attention to water quality in the process of breeding, if the water quality is too dirty, it will also affect the life of grass carp. When changing the water, the dechlorinated water is also needed. Do not change too much water each time, control in one fifth or one quarter is more appropriate.
