1, select parent fish: Generally speaking, female ruby fish body length of about 10cm can be used for reproduction. Male fish can be used for reproduction when their body length is 8-9 cm. To reproduce, some female fish with body length of more than 10 cm and abdominal enlargement and male fish with body length of more than 8 cm should be selected as parent fish and put them into a larger fish tank.
2. Separate tank breeding: After putting the parent fish into the big fish tank, they will pair freely. After pairing, they can be moved to a propagation vat with a length of 80 cm, a width of 40 cm and a height of 50 cm. Only one pair of parent fish is placed in each breeding tank. Before the parent fish enters the tank, the water temperature should be adjusted to 28 C, the hardness of the water to 9.2, and the PH value of the water to 7.2. This water is more suitable for their reproduction. Also put a smooth piece of porcelain in the jar as a spawning plate.
3. Spawning and hatching: After the parent fish enters the tank, it will begin to spawn and reproduce. After spawning, the parent fish will be responsible for hatching and caring for the young fish until they learn to hunt. This takes about 8-10 days. During the breeding period, we should pay attention to keeping quiet and not disturb them except feeding, so as not to frighten them and affect their reproduction.
The breeding cycle of ruby fish is very short, only about 20 days. Under the right environmental conditions, it takes only 20 days from the first spawning to spawn again. If the parent fish is not allowed to hatch the eggs during reproduction, and the eggs are hatched artificially, the time can be shortened to about 15 days.
