1. Breeding season: The breeding process of belugas will be carried out during the breeding season. Generally speaking, the breeding season of beluga whales is from February to April every year. At this stage, if the water temperature reaches about 10 degrees, it can basically meet the breeding requirements of beluga whales.
2. Internal fertilization: The belugas use internal fertilization to reproduce. Therefore, the combination of fertilized eggs is completed in the body of female beluga whales.
3. Pregnancy and Fertility: After fertilization, the female beluga is pregnant. The gestation period of belugas is relatively long, longer than that of human beings, generally about 14 months. After that, the belugas give birth. In the process of reproduction, there will be many whales around, they are to protect the female whale. After the breeding process is complete, most of the whales leave, leaving only the female whales who specialize in breeding. They will choose a place where the temperature is more suitable to raise young whales.
4. Lactation: Belugas belong to mammals and have a lactation period. Their lactation period is usually 1.5 years or 2 years. In the process of nursing, there will always be female whales to protect the young whales. When the young whales are active, at least two females will protect them in the middle.
As mentioned above, the breeding season of the beluga is from February to April every year, while the gestation period of the beluga is about 14 months. Therefore, it can be estimated that the breeding time of beluga whales is between April and June. Sometimes the gestation period of beluga whales will be extended, and the birth time of beluga whales will be delayed until about July, but generally it will not be too late.
