The primary condition for raising the radiation tortoise is to provide a suitable growth environment for it. They are tropical turtles, suitable for living in a warm and dry environment, usually the best temperature to maintain at 22-30 C, humidity maintained at about 55% is the most appropriate.
They are herbivorous turtles and eat a lot of food. They usually eat fruits and vegetables, and sometimes they eat grass, such as dandelion, pasture, carrots, bananas, and so on. It should be noted that fruits and vegetables need to be soaked in water for half an hour before feeding, so as to remove the residual pesticides and avoid them being eaten by mistake. Because of their large size, they need to supplement calcium once a week. Calcium powder can be added to food to facilitate their consumption and absorption.
Radiation tortoises need to avoid. If they are kept indoors, they need to place a UVB lamp in their breeding box, which is similar to sunlight and can promote the synthesis of vitamin D to meet their growth needs, but in order to make the temperature difference of the breeding box, they need to create a shade area in one corner to facilitate their cooling. For outdoor maintenance, a storage box can be placed in the breeding area as a shelter for them.
