The beluga whale is a kind of whale. Some of its characteristics are quite unique. For example, its body is white, its head is relatively small, its forehead is very smooth, its mouth is very short, and its swimming speed is relatively slow.
Of all the species of whale, the beluga is not particularly large. Adult belugas will be 3-5 meters in length, although there are larger belugas, but may be less. They weigh between 0.4 and 1.5 tons, making belugas relatively small compared with larger whales such as blue whales and killer whales. The calves we may see are smaller, ranging from 1.5 to 1.6 meters in length and weighing about 80 kilograms. There are some factors that affect the specific size of beluga whales, such as various factors in the surrounding environment, that is, food, water temperature and other factors.
Among all the whale species, the life span of the beluga whale is not particularly long. Generally speaking, it will be about thirty or forty years. They are also relatively early adults, generally not more than 10 years old. They don't reach sexual maturity beyond the age of 10. Specifically, the age of their sexual maturity has gender differences, the formation of mature females will be more, generally speaking, 4-7 years old to reach the age of sexual maturity; Male belugas reach sexual maturity later, typically between 7 and 9 years of age. Belugas breed viviparously and have a lactation period after giving birth, which lasts for about 1.5-2 years.
