Hermann tortoises are generally preferred for rearing in North China. 1. Different shapes: Water turtles and tortoises are actually better distinguished, and their differences can be found from their appearance. The first is their feet. Water turtles generally have webbed feet and sharp toes because they need to swim, while tortoises are mainly on land, so they have no webbed feet, and because of friction, their nails are often bald. Moreover, their backs are different. The backs of water turtles are generally flat, while those of tortoises are mostly high.

2. Different habits: The main difference between water turtles and tortoises is their habits. Water turtles can't live without water. Although they need to be raised dry occasionally, they still need to bubble in water every day. If they are raised completely out of water, they will soon die due to dehydration. Tortoises are mainly on land, so they don't need to soak in water, but many of them can swim. In addition, although turtles are omnivorous animals, water turtles often prefer meat, while tortoises prefer vegetarian food such as plants.

3. Different distribution: The distribution of water turtles and tortoises is also quite different. Water turtles must be near the water source. As mentioned above, this animal cannot survive without water, so it is usually found in rivers and lakes. In addition to the distribution of tortoises in shrubs and tropical rain forests, there are also some species in dry grasslands and highlands, and only Australia does not have them, but other continents can be seen.
