1. Appropriate water level: The water level of crocodile turtles during hibernation should not be too deep, and the height of water level is best below the carapace. Because they don't move during hibernation, they can't raise their heads to breathe. If the water level is too deep, they will choke or drown.

2. Stable water temperature: Although crocodile turtles can be cold-resistant, the minimum acceptable water temperature is 3 ℃. After they go into hibernation, the breeder needs to keep the water temperature at 5-10 ℃. Moreover, crocodile turtles are sensitive to environmental changes during hibernation, so breeders try to reduce the fluctuation of water temperature.

3. Pay attention to avoiding light: Crocodile turtles are sensitive to light after hibernation, so breeders need to keep them away from light. If they feel strong light, they may wake up from hibernation.

There is no specific time for crocodile turtles to hibernate, because their living environment is different, and their hibernation time is also different. Normally, they all go into hibernation when the water temperature is lower than 15 ℃, and Allen Su from hibernation when the water temperature is higher than 15 ℃. According to most of the weather in China, they usually hibernate in November every year, and then wake up in March of the following year. Hibernation lasts about 4 months.
