Crocodile turtles can lay eggs as long as they reach a certain age, but how long they become adults depends on the breeding environment. Generally speaking, farmed crocodile turtles start production in about 5 years. However, some of them develop rapidly, and they can mature in about 3-4 years. Although they develop rapidly, it is not recommended that breeders let them reproduce immediately. Because they are just mature and their organs are unstable, it may affect their quality and quantity if they reproduce immediately, so it is best to wait another year.
After maturity, crocodile turtles will start pairing from April to June every year, and after successful mating, they will produce from July to November every year. But they lay eggs more than once a year, and because of the difference in temperature and climate, the specific time of laying eggs is not fixed.
2. How do crocodile turtle eggs hatchAfter crocodile turtle lays eggs, the breeder will take out the eggs and hatch them. How to hatch is described in detail below.
1. Hatching container: Breeders should prepare a special hatching container for them, which should be filled with sand or other moisturizing things.
2. Incubation environment: Adjust the environment in the incubator, control the temperature at about 30 ℃ and keep the humidity between 80% and 85%.
3. Regular inspection: After the incubator is ready, the breeder can put the eggs in to hatch. During hatching, breeders need to regularly check whether there are broken eggs and spray water regularly to ensure that the environment is moist.
