Pearl turtles are not deep-water turtles, although they are water turtles and often live in water. But compared with the water level where razor turtles and musk turtles live, the water level they can adapt to is not particularly deep, so they are not deep-water turtles. When breeding pearl turtles artificially, it is best to determine the height of water level according to their size.
Generally speaking, pearl turtles in their infancy need to live in shallow water. Breeders need to keep the height of water level consistent with the height of carapace. As they grow in size, the water level at which they are raised will also rise. When they are adults, the height of water level can be controlled at 2-3 times of the height of carapace, but the maximum cannot exceed 3 times. If you want them to live in deep water, it is best to prepare a balcony or gentle slope for them, so that they will reduce drowning and choking.
2. What water is used to feed pearl turtlesThe pearl turtles have strong adaptability and are easy to feed. They don't have high requirements for water quality, so long as the water is clean and fresh, they can survive well. Breeders can change water once every 2-3 days, and half of the water can be changed every time. Pearl tortoises like weakly alkaline water, and breeders should keep the PH value between 6.5 and 7.5. If the water quality is too acidic, it will corrode their body surface and affect their growth and development.
