Musk tortoises and Brazilian tortoises should not be raised together, because they are not similar in size, personality and living environment, so they are not suitable for mixed breeding together.
The first is the body size. The Brazilian tortoise is too large, and its body length can grow to 20-30 cm in adulthood. Musk turtles are small in size, and their body length is mostly between 7 and 14 cm in adulthood. If they are mixed together, Brazilian tortoises will bully musk tortoises.
Secondly, they have different personalities. Although they are not aggressive, Brazilian tortoises are lively and have strong adaptability. When mixed together, Brazilian tortoises may constantly harass musk tortoises.
Finally, their habits are different. Musk tortoises are more suitable for living in deep water, but Brazilian tortoises can only live in shallow water. If breeders want them to be mixed together, they can be put together at an early age. Because musk turtles in their infancy don't need too deep water level.
2. What turtles can musk turtles be raised withMusk turtles can be mixed with deep-water turtles such as egg turtles, round Australian turtles, map turtles and razor turtles. These turtles are not particularly large in size and are suitable for deep-water rearing. There is not much difference between their size and musk turtles, so there will be no problem of bullying the small with the big. Moreover, they are gentle and generally do not take the initiative to attack other turtles, so they are very suitable for polyculture with musk turtles.
