Musk turtles can reproduce when their body length can reach 10-14 cm. But male and female bodies are different, so the body length required for reproduction is also different. Under normal breeding, female turtles will be larger, so their body length needs to reach 12-14 cm before they can reproduce. Male turtles are smaller and can reproduce as long as they reach 10-12 cm in length.

Musk turtles can be judged not only by their size, but also by their age. Because of different feeding environments, their body size development is also different. Even if some musk turtles meet the requirements of reproduction, their age does not meet. Even if they reproduce, it will affect the reproduction effect and quality. Normally, musk turtles need to develop for 4-8 years before they can reproduce, but the specific time depends on the way of feeding and the living environment.

Breeders can select mature musk turtles and put them together to reproduce. Musk turtles usually mate in spring, when the breeder needs to keep the temperature between 22-26 ℃. Musk turtles mate in water, and the mating time is relatively long, so breeders need to keep their surroundings quiet and not disturb them.

After mating, they will lay eggs at intervals. When laying eggs, the male turtle and the female turtle will dig holes together, and then the female turtle will lay the eggs in the holes and bury them. If the breeder has a container for laying eggs and hatching, he can let them lay directly in the container, then control the temperature and humidity of the incubator and wait for hatching. As long as the environment in the incubator is suitable, they can hatch successfully in about 60-84 days.
