Flame turtles are water turtles, which are native to the continent of North America. Wild flame turtles all live in fresh water such as lakes, streams, swamps and rivers. They are very standard aquatic turtles, because they generally don't climb ashore except to breathe, reproduce and hibernate. Although they are water turtles, they always live in shallow water. When raising artificially, we should also pay attention to the height of water level.
2. How high is the water level of flame turtles appropriateThe water level of flame turtles should be adjusted according to their body shape. Generally speaking, the water level of flame turtles can be lower when they are young, and the water level can be consistent with the height of their carapace, or they can not pass the carapace. In this way, when they look up or stand on tiptoe, they will breathe fresh air to avoid choking and drowning.
When they mature, they will become bigger and the water level of feeding will be raised. Adult flame turtles' physical strength and swimming ability will increase, and breeders can control the height of water level to 1-2 times of the height of carapace, and the maximum should not exceed 2 times.
If breeders want to use deeper water, they should build a balcony and gentle slope, so that they can swim to the water quickly, and rest and bask in the sun on the balcony.
