round Australian tortoises are not cold water tortoises, and their origin is in low latitude areas, such as Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and other countries, and they were introduced into China only in modern times. Although the turtles are widely distributed now, their habits have not changed much. They like warm environment and fear cold, so they need higher water temperature to raise them. If the water temperature is too low, they will have problems such as loss of appetite, decreased activity, decreased resistance and immunity, and over time, they will get sick or die.
2. How much is the water temperature appropriateAs mentioned above, the tortoise is not a cold water tortoise, but a tropical tortoise, so their requirements for water temperature are on the high side. If it is raised artificially, it is necessary to keep the water temperature between 28-30 ℃, so that they can live normally. If the water temperature cannot be controlled at 28-30 ℃, the water temperature can be kept above 20 ℃ as much as possible. It is best to install a heating rod to ensure the water temperature is constant.
In winter, try not to let the tortoises hibernate, because they are sensitive to environmental changes after hibernation, and the temperature difference between morning and evening in winter is relatively large. If the environment fluctuates, it will affect their hibernation and may lead to their death. If breeders want them to hibernate, they also need to use heating rods to keep the water temperature at 5 ℃. And change the water once every 2-3 weeks to ensure clean water quality.
