It takes five years for the razor turtle to enter sexual maturity under natural conditions, and it matures at about seven years old. At this time, the weight of the male razor turtle is about 150 grams, and that of the female razor turtle is about 250 grams. They usually enter the mating period from April to May every year.
This kind of turtle can lay eggs all year round, and the spawning period varies from region to region. For example, the spawning period of this turtle in the Yangtze River Basin is from the end of April to the end of August. Under normal circumstances, May-July is the peak period of spawning every year. Female razor turtles can lay eggs 3-4 times a year, and the interval between each time is about 10-30 days. They have high requirements on the environment when they are in labor. It is best to keep the water temperature and air temperature at 27-31 ℃, not more than 35 ℃, otherwise they will stop production.

How many eggs can razor turtles layFemale razor turtles can lay eggs 3-4 times a year, each time they can lay about 5-10 eggs, at least one egg, and at most the number of eggs can be as high as 16. Each female razor turtle can lay 6-16 eggs in total every year. This turtle is not a high-yielding turtle, and its size is not large, so its reproductive ability is weak and its frequency is relatively low.
The maturity period of females and males of this turtle is different, which takes about 5-6 years for males and 4-5 years for females. It can also be judged according to their size. The length of the shell of the male turtle is about 12 cm, while that of the female turtle is smaller, about 10 cm. Although they can reproduce when they are sexually mature, it is best not to let them reproduce immediately, because razor turtles that have just entered the sexual maturity period do not reproduce well.
