Razor tortoises usually lay 3-4 eggs a year. However, the number of times they lay eggs will be affected by their surroundings. If they are raised in suitable places, some razor turtles can even lay eggs five times a year. However, if they are raised in an unreasonable environment, some of them can even give birth twice a year.
The environmental suitability here means that the temperature of the surrounding environment is between 22-26 ℃ and the PH is between 7.0-7.5. In this environment, their metabolism is fast, and their growth and development can reach the best state. The turtle can lay an average of 2-4 eggs each time, and can lay about 6-16 eggs every year.
2. When does the razor turtle lay eggsThe razor turtle wakes up from hibernation every spring, and then the male and female turtles mate and lay eggs. If they live in the wild, they don't need to worry about them. They will mate and reproduce by themselves. But if it is a razor turtle raised at home, the breeder needs to intervene.
After they wake up, the breeder needs to prepare a separate tank for them and put healthy females and males together. Provide them with a suitable environment for them to mate. Wait until May-August, they will lay eggs. At this time, the breeder needs to take out the eggs and spread about ten centimeters of fine sand in the incubator. Every day, fine sand is leached with water with a temperature between 22-26 ℃ to provide them with a humid environment. So that turtle eggs can successfully hatch young turtles.
