Onion snails are oviparous snails, which lay eggs. But although it can lay eggs in fresh water, these eggs can not hatch in fresh water, only in sea water.
Although onion snails can survive or even lay eggs in fresh water or water with poor water quality, these eggs can not be hatched, only in some more stringent environments can they be hatched. Specific requirements include the following:
1. Temperature: Onion snails can adapt to the temperature between 15 and 38 degrees, and have strong adaptability to temperature. However, if you want to hatch eggs, the temperature requirement is very high, preferably between 25 and 26 degrees. This is the most active temperature and the most suitable temperature for hatching.
2. Nutrition: Incubation needs nutrition to meet the growth of eggs. So the water for hatching needs to be hard water rich in calcium. And there is enough food and nutrition in the water. You can do this by taking a piece of sunken wood and growing out the green algae and then putting it in the water. Green algae is a favorite food of onion snails.
3. Water quality: During the incubation period, the water body must be clean and healthy. It should not be filtered during incubation, but in order to avoid spoilage, it can be maintained clean by changing water.
4. Salinity: This is the most important point during incubation. Is the guarantee of salinity. The salinity must be between 1.01 and 1.02. This is the most suitable salinity conditions for their hatching.
