The guppies do not have high requirements for water quality and have strong adaptability. It can survive as long as it is not too acidic or too alkaline water. However, it prefers to live in hard, neutral or alkaline water. Therefore, it is no problem to use underground water, tap water and so on as the water for raising them. But the temperature of these waters is relatively low, especially groundwater. Before raising fish, the temperature should be adjusted to about 25 C before putting the fish in.
Tap water quality is hard, moderate acidity and alkalinity, in line with the requirements of guppies on water quality. Therefore, tap water can be used as water for raising guppies. However, untreated tap water can not be used to raise fish. Because tap water contains a lot of chlorine, as well as other chemicals, which can be harmful to the health of fish. But if these toxic substances can be removed, fish can be raised in tap water. The common method is to put tap water in the sun for 2 to 3 days. Exposure to the sun can promote gas exchange in the water, thus volatilizing chlorine and other substances. After drying, the tap water not only removes chlorine and other substances, but also improves the dissolved oxygen in the water, which is very suitable for feeding guppies.
