Snapping turtles are a species of turtle that can be raised in captivity. In the process of breeding, feeding is an important aspect. The first is the frequency of feeding. The frequency is not certain, and can be adjusted according to the specific situation. For example, it can be adjusted according to the age of snapping turtles. When snapping turtles are still relatively young, their growth rate will be relatively fast, at this time they need to provide adequate food, preferably fed every day, if possible, can be fed twice a day. After they grow up, they will basically stop growing, and there is no need to feed them every day, they can be fed once every 2-3 days.
In addition to adjusting the frequency of feeding according to age, it can also be adjusted according to water temperature, because water temperature will have a greater impact on the appetite of snapping turtles. If the water temperature is suitable, such as above 20 degrees, then feeding can be more frequent. If the water temperature is very low, in this case the crocodile turtle's appetite will be reduced, then feeding is not particularly frequent, the interval can be longer. If the water temperature is below 18 degrees, or even if the snapping turtle enters a state of hibernation due to the low temperature, then feeding can be suspended directly.
In addition to the frequency of feeding, we need to pay attention to the amount of feeding. The amount of feeding is mainly adjusted according to the size of the snapping turtle. If the body length of the crocodile turtle is more than 3 centimeters, then feed 5 turtle food at a time; If they are 3-5 centimeters in size, then each feeding amount of 5-8 tortoise food is more appropriate; If the length is more than 8 centimeters, the feeding amount needs to be increased accordingly, and the feeding amount is about one tenth of their volume.
