Generally speaking, it takes at least three months for newly hatched young shrimps to enter the breeding period. However, some young shrimps develop slowly and need 100 days or more to mature. After sexual maturity, shrimps can meet the requirements of reproduction.
The reproductive capacity of the black shell shrimp is very strong. As long as the temperature is right, it can mate and reproduce all year round. It takes less than a month to mate, fertilize and hatch. Because the temperature will affect its spawning time, its reproductive cycle is not fixed. The warmer the environment, the shorter the breeding cycle. The reproductive cycle is shortened mainly by shortening the spawning period. When the water temperature is between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius, its spawning period takes 15 to 16 days. Under these conditions, it can only reproduce once a month. When the water temperature is controlled above 26 C, its spawning period will be shortened to 13-14 days, and its reproductive cycle will be about 20 days.
