The growth rate of the pig-nosed turtle is related to the breeding environment and the feed it is fed. If the water temperature can be controlled at about 28 C and some small fish or shrimps are fed to them to increase nutrition, they can grow about 6 cm a year. If the breeding environment is not very suitable, they can only grow 3-5 cm a year. In general, they grow relatively fast.
It takes a long time for the pig-nosed turtle to grow up. Generally, they can only grow to a length of about 10 cm after about 1-2 years of cultivation. After 3-4 years of cultivation, they can grow to a length of about 20 cm. After 5-6 years of cultivation, they can grow to a length of about 30 cm. After 7-8 years of cultivation, they can grow to 40-50cm. After 8-9 years of breeding, they can grow up completely. Some slow-growing individuals may take more than 10 years to grow up.
Fully developed pig-nosed turtles can grow to 46-51 cm in length, and some larger individuals can even grow to 55-56 cm. However, if you want to raise them, you need to use a big water tank. If the water tank is relatively small, limited by environmental conditions, they can not grow very large. If you want to raise them to 50 cm, it is recommended to use a large tank with a length of 2 m and a height of 1.6 m. You can use a smaller tank when you are young, but when they grow up, you need to change the tank in time so as not to affect their growth.
