When breeding pig-nosed turtles, it is recommended to control the water temperature between 25-31 degrees Celsius, which is the most suitable temperature for their growth. When the water temperature is below 22 C, their appetite will decrease significantly and their growth rate will slow down. If the water temperature is lower, they will stop growing. Therefore, when breeding, special attention should be paid to keeping warm. In winter, it is better to maintain the water temperature at about 26 C with a heating rod, and the lowest water temperature should not be lower than 22 C.
Pig-nosed turtles are suitable for growing in deeper water. In their native habitat, they live at a depth of about 1.8 m. Therefore, when breeding, it is recommended to keep it in a turtle tank with a water depth of about 1m. If such a large tank is not available, they should be raised in a turtle tank with a water depth of more than 0.5 m. If the water is too shallow, they will have difficulty growing properly and even have growth problems.
After adulthood, the body length of the pig-nosed turtle can reach 46-51 cm. Therefore, when breeding, we also need to use a larger turtle tank. For monoculture, it is recommended to use vats with a length of more than 1m, a height of more than 0.8m and a width of more than 0.8m. If you want to keep more than one, you need to use a larger tank. However, when breeding young turtles, you can use a slightly smaller tank, and then change the big tank when they grow up.
