The pig-nosed turtle cannot be raised dry. It is a highly aquatic turtle that spends most of its time in the water. They rarely leave the water except to lay eggs. Therefore, when they are cultured, they should not be dry raised, and it is better to keep them in water. If they are dehydrated for a long time, they will not adapt and become weaker and weaker. If it takes a long time, they may even die.
After leaving the water, the pig-nosed turtle can only live for about 1-2 days. If it can be provided with adequate drinking water after leaving the water, and can wrap its whole body with a wet cloth to maintain humidity, then it can persist for a longer period of time. But if you leave it out of water and put it in a place where the light is very strong, then the time it can survive will be greatly reduced, generally less than a day.
When raising the pig-nosed turtle, it is recommended to use water with a depth of 0.5-1m. If conditions permit, deeper water can be used for breeding. Because in their native habitat, they generally live in water six feet deep, or 1.8 meters. If the water is too shallow, they may also grow poorly. Therefore, it is better to choose a deeper turtle tank when breeding.
