When breeding razor turtles, you can try to let them breed. Whether they have the ability to reproduce can be judged from two aspects. First of all, you can look at the time of farming. The age at which the male and female turtles enter the sexual maturation stage is not quite the same, and the female turtles will mature earlier than the male turtles. Generally speaking, female razor turtles have the ability to reproduce for 4-5 years, but male razor turtles need 5-6 years to generally have the ability to reproduce.
In addition to their age, they can also be judged by the length of their carapace to determine whether they are fertile. Under normal circumstances, when the mother turtle's carapace length reaches 10 centimeters or more, it can reproduce. As for male turtles, their carapace length needs to reach 10-12 centimeters before they can reproduce, and they can reproduce in the appropriate breeding season.
Razor turtles can breed in the appropriate breeding season after they have the ability to breed. Generally speaking, they can breed once a year, and the breeding season is usually in spring. They begin to breed in the early spring. After mating, female razorback turtles lay eggs from April to August. Especially in May-July, it is the peak period of spawning. Under normal circumstances, female turtles can lay eggs 3-4 times, the interval is usually 10-30 days. The number of eggs they lay each time is not very certain, more than a dozen, at least one. In this process, we must ensure that the surrounding environment is suitable, especially the water temperature, which needs to be maintained between 27-31 degrees, this range is the most appropriate.
