The white-lipped turtle is a common species of turtle. It is a native tortoise in the Americas. Their distribution range is very wide, extending from the United States, Mexico and other countries in North America to some countries in South America. Since then, the tortoise has been introduced to other countries and is now found on many continents. The white-lipped turtle is a deep water turtle. They generally live in streams, ponds, marshes and other places. This kind of turtle is often seen in waters with abundant vegetation and soft riverbed. They can also be kept at home as ornamental turtles.
If they are raised at home, they do not need to use too deep water. It is very inconvenient to take them out of the container with too deep water. They can't stay in the water all the time, they need to come out every day and get some sunshine.
As mentioned above, it is not necessary to breed the white-lipped turtle in too deep water, because too deep water will cause some trouble. It's more difficult to take them out of the container, and it's more difficult for them to swim to the surface by themselves. Therefore, the water depth can be adjusted so that the height of the water is about the same as that of the white-lipped turtle's shell, or more than part of their shell, but try not to exceed twice the height of their shell. When the water has a certain amount of evaporation, it can be properly supplemented. White-lipped turtles need to bask in the sun every day, if the container has a drying table, it will be more appropriate, if not, it is best to take them out of the container at a fixed time every day to bask in the sun.
